David Wheldon
David Wheldon began his career at Saatchi & Saatchi in London in 1983. He moved up the company swiftly and was offered to run Lowe Howard-Spink in 1989 as Managing Director. As part of the Lowe Worldwide board, he helped build the agency’s worldwide network. After four years, he was asked by The Coca-Cola Company to be the Global Head of Advertising and a Vice President, and lived in Atlanta for four years, working for the legendary Sergio Zyman. David returned to Europe in 1997 when BBDO asked him to become President of BBDO Europe. He joined Tempus plc as a director and CEO of CIA (the media planning and buying company). After WPP purchased Tempus in January 2002, David worked for Sir Martin Sorrell at WPP, creating Team Vodafone. Having moved to Vodafone, Mr Wheldon oversaw the company’s 'Power to you' positioning as Global Director of Brand. He also helped mastermind the company’s sponsorship portfolio, which has included high-profile deals with Manchester United, the Ferrari Formula One team and the England cricket team.
