David Barker
David began his Marketing & Communications career working within financial and business to business sectors. His move from the commercial world into the voluntary sector was driven by a passion to ‘do something more meaningful than making dull products look exciting’. His work in the sector has seen him undertake a variety of senior roles within a number of charities. He headed up the Marketing & Communications efforts at the British Heart Foundation (BHF) for a number of years where he was responsible for delivering some of the charity’s most successful and iconic integrated campaigns. He joined Breakthrough Breast Cancer in January 2010 where he is responsible for the full range of Marketing & Communications disciplines. Since joining the charity he has helped to refocus the Breakthrough brand and delivered a new, fully integrated Marketing and Communications offer.
Previous to BHF he was Head of Media Relations at the RNID where he successfully raised the profile of the charity, helping to reposition the organisation as a powerful campaigner.
David’s teams have been the recipients of numerous national and international awards for PR, Marketing, New Media and Communications Excellence. He is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars in the UK and abroad.
